Cisco Announces Security Solutions For Data Centers

The announcement includes the update to version 9.0 for the operating system of the Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), the ASA 1000V firewall for virtualized and cloud environments, the 4500 series intrusion prevention system (IPS), the Security Manager 4.3, and AnyConnect 3.1.

The new ASA 9.0 platform integrates with Cisco's Cloud Web Security, supports IPv6, and delivers 320 Gbps of firewall and 60 Gbps IPS throughput, as well as 1 million connections per second and 50 million concurrent connections. The Security Manager 4.3 monitors ASA and IPS devices and AnyConnect 3.1 has been optimized toward IPv6 and BYOD to simplify the deployment of mobile devices in organizations.

The new ASA 1000V, based on Cisco's Nexus 1000V series switch, is offered as a firewall for multitenant virtual and cloud environments, while the IPS 4500 series intrusion prevention system is sold as a quickly deployable security tool that provides a bandwidth of 10 Gbps per rack unit.
