Silver Tail Systems offers real time forensic and analytics software for cybercrime and web fraud protection. EMC said it has agreed to purchase Silver Tail Systems, a company that offers real-time forensic and analytics software for cybercrime and web fraud protection.
The technology will be integrated to complement EMC's RSA anti-fraud solutions.
Financial details were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to be complete in the current quarter.
According to EMC, Silver Tail technology will add to RSA’s Identity Protection and Verification (IPV), as well as "other" areas. EMC said that it will use the company's technology to provide "disruptive fraud-fighting technology" and use its behavioral analysis technology to extend the security analytics capabilities across RSA’s enterprise security solutions portfolio.
The target market of Silver Tail is online banking, e-commerce and government operations using a big data approach in collecting and analyzing "mass quantities of information in real time and at scale to deepen visibility into web sessions and mobile traffic." The company says that it can monitor activities up to 330,000 clicks per second.
