How to Discreetly Say You're Looking for Work via LinkedIn

By - Source: Toms IT Pro

It may go without saying, you must be discreet when looking for a job if you already have a job. LinkedIn is making that easier to do through a new feature called Open Candidates.

The new LinkedIn feature will let people create a signal that will be viewable only to recruiters who use LinkedIn's premium tier (starting at $8,000). Those recruiters will get a ping that alerts them that a potential candidate is looking to change jobs and is open to being contacted. The feature will roll out to the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia to start.

That's not the only enhancement to LinkedIn's recruitment platform. The company introduced more complete Career Pages for recruiting companies. Hopefully, this will help connect job hunters and hiring companies connect to fill the 6 million-some jobs available on the social network.

To turn on the Open Candidates feature on your LinkedIn profile, visit your profile. Click Jobs into the top navigation. Click Preferences and toggle On below the phrase "Let recruiters know you're open." It will ask you what kind of job you're considering, by asking you to enter a potential title. It will ask you to identify if you want a full-time, part-time, contract, internship, remote or freelance job. You can tell it when you can start and you can introduce yourself in 300 characters or less.
