The Baserock Slab comes in a half-depth 1U chassis with a capacity of eight quad-core processors per node, which double to 64 when installed back-to-back. A full-height rack results in up to 2,432 processing cores in 76 nodes (32U). Codethink uses Marvell's Armada XP quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.33 GHz and 2 GB of ECC DDR3 RAM per node as hardware foundation. Each CPU can be tied to a 30 - 120 GB mSATA SSD storage and a SATA port for additional storage. there is also a dual 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet interface that can be combined to a single 5 Gb link. Each node is equipped with a 260 watt PSU. The Baserock Slab server is expected to be available in September. There was no information on pricing. Wolfgang Gruener is a contributor to Tom's IT Pro.
