Barracuda Adds F280 NG Firewall To Appliance Lineup

Barracuda Networks has announced the availability of Barracuda NG Firewall F280, a new desktop appliance that provides branch offices and remote locations with "powerful" next-generation firewall functionality and full Gigabit throughput.

"The Barracuda NG Firewall is an enterprise-grade network firewall that combines comprehensive, next-generation firewall capabilities -- based on application visibility and user-identity awareness - with optimal efficiency and throughput," states the company's press release.

On the security front, the Barracuda NG Firewall F280 includes all the features of the latest Barracuda NG Firewall version 5.4.2 release including application detection, SSL interception, IPS and malware protection. This solution is also extremely flexible, offering direct, fast and secure access to Internet and private or public cloud resources, per Barracuda.

"The Barracuda NG Firewall offers massive scalability, easy and efficient management across dispersed networks, low resource consumption and high performance for business-critical applications," the company's announcement adds.

The appliance features 99.99% availability of all business-critical resources, integrated application aware WAN virtualization, integrated wireless for mobile devices, and central management using Barracuda Control Center. Coordinated WAN optimization, centralized management and cloud-hosted content filtering and reporting are just a few of the key features.

The U.S. list price for the Barracuda NG Firewall F280 starts at $2,499 USD for the appliance and $449 USD for Energize Updates (one-year subscription). International pricing and availability varies by region.
