Barracuda Mobile Device Manager Adds Android Support

By - Source: Barracuda

Barracuda has updated the company's Mobile Device Manager software, adding support for Android devices. Barracuda Mobile Device Manager is a free, cloud-based service that allows administrators to provide Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) security and assign device scenarios.

Mobile Device Manager is part of Barracuda's Total Threat Protection initiative for real time, low cost protection against advanced threats. Protection is provided for multiple threat vectors including email, web apps, remote access, web browsing and the network perimeter.

"We first released Barracuda MDM with iOS support targeting our K-12 customers rolling out 1:1 iPad initiatives," said Stephen Pao, GM Security, Barracuda. "By extending Barracuda MDM support to the Android operating system, we look forward to extending support to help our corporate customers manage their BYOD environments that span both Android and iOS."

Barracuda Mobile Device Manager enables central management of an organization's mobile security. Administrators can configure mobile authentication, set up LDAP or Active Directory user authentication, push applications to devices, monitor device activity and more.

Barracuda MDM is managed through a web-based console as part of the Barracuda Cloud Control portal, a single-pane-of-glass for users to manage their security infrastructure. Once the service is set up and configured, mobile devices can be enrolled. Mobile device enrollment can be done through enrollment key/shared secret authentication, via an enrollment URL emailed to a device, through USB via a desktop application, or by using the Barracuda Mobile Companion app on the mobile device.

Barracuda offers a suite of mobile applications such as Barracuda Safe Browser, Barracuda Copy and CudaSign, which can be pushed to mobile devices and provide secure browsing, workflow and managed document signing.

Barracuda Mobile Device Manager is provided at no cost to existing Barracuda customers. The Barracuda Mobile Device Companion app can be downloaded from the iTunes app Store or the Google Play Store.
