The company's software promises to ease the bottlenecks between software development and live operations by combining application deployment and configuration management in a package. VaraLogix' solution supports multi-tier Java and .Net Web applications and can deploy applications together with other software such as databases and servers automatically. As a result, organizations may see fewer outages and a less risky software deployments overall. According to BMC, the addition of application release automation to its portfolio provides an abstraction layer that allows IT teams to deploy applications regardless of programming experience. "BMC has always had an innovative, intelligent approach to DevOps," said John Balena, BMC's general manager for DevOps Solutions. "By making visible what was previously invisible in the complex application release process, our technology gives customers an unprecedented ability to define, implement, monitor, assess and continually improve the application release process in an agile way." Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Wolfgang Gruener is a contributor to Tom's IT Pro.
