CA Technologies is strengthening its position in application delivery as well as API management and security. The company announced that it acquired Nolio, a provider of application release operations software, and Layer 7 Technologies, which offers security and management for API integrations.
Nolio promises to deliver an application-centric automation solution to deploy applications to physical, virtual and cloud environments. CA did not reveal how it intends to use Nolio's resources and IP, but noted that the company has been recognized as a "strong and growing international base of large enterprise and service provider customers." While not confirmed, Nolio's deployment technology fits well within CA's own application delivery suite LISA, which comes with a virtualization and automation solution, as well as a testing and cloud setup component.
CA will add Layer 7's API management and security software to its existing Identity and Access Management products as well as LISA. According to the company, Layer 7's technology will help organizations to "better manage and secure APIs and deliver more confidently and quickly the cloud, mobile and composite applications that run today’s business services."
