Dell Storage Array Software Promises 100% Performance Jump By Wolfgang Gruener November 23, 2012 11:40 PM Tags : Hardware & Software Storage Management Storage Dell Dell has just released version 6.3 of its Storage Center array software. It promises that enterprise applications will benefit from a 100 performance increase over previous versions, if combined with Compellent SC8000 controllers. The technology also supports end-to-end 16Gb Fibre Channel from server to switch to storage. According to the company, the 6.3 release features synchronous replication enhancements to improve resiliency for data recovery, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 support, and reduced administration time with Active Directory and LDAP support, integration of USGv6/IPv6 support, as well as an ability to intelligently alert and recommend placement of volumes across multiple arrays based on proactive performance and capacity monitoring. Dell's Compellent Storage Center 6.3 is scheduled to be available as beta version in early 2013 and as a finalized product in the second quarter of next year. The Compellent storage arrays target medium to large enterprise customers as well as cloud computing applications.
