Dell, Toshiba Launch New Vostro And Portégé Laptops for Businesses

This week, both Toshiba and Dell revealed new laptop solutions for businesses. Dell actually made two announcements: one that covers two new Vostro 3000 laptops and one that reveals a Developer Edition of its popular Dell XPS 13 notebook. Toshiba's announcement focused on one laptop best suited for small to medium businesses. All notebooks listed here are available to purchase.

For starters, Dell announced that it has updated two Vostro 3000 productivity notebooks, the Vostro 14 3000 Series and the Vostro 15 3000 Series. Both now support the latest Intel "Broadwell" processors and discrete graphics provided by Nvidia, and they measure less than one inch thick. The Vostro 14 has a battery that lasts up to 9 hours on a single charge, and the Vostro 15's battery promises up to just under 9 hours.

The starting price for both the Vostro 14 and 15 is $349.00. Here are the base specs for the Vostro 15 3000 and the Vostro 14 3000 Series:

In addition to the two Vostro 3000 notebooks, Dell also announced the release of a Developer Edition of the Dell XPS 13. This laptop comes packed with Ubuntu 14.04 and an Intel "Broadwell" fifth-generation Intel processor. There are actually two models customers can purchase: one with the Intel Core i5-5200U and one with the Intel Core i7-5500U. Available screen resolutions include 1920 x 1080 and 3200 x 1800; all models sport a 13.3-inch Infinity display.

The starting price for the Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition is $949.00. Here are the specs for both versions:

Finally we have a "durable and light" laptop series from Toshiba for Small and Medium Businesses (SMB). Called the Portégé R30, this laptop includes a fourth-generation Intel processor ranging from the Core i3-4000M to the Core i7-4610M, a built-in DVD drive, up to 16 GB of DDR3L memory and options for a 1 TB hybrid drive or a 512 GB SSD. There's also a fingerprint scanner and a Trusted Platform Model for extra security.

This laptop has a starting price of $829.99 and can be purchased through Toshiba's online and offline partners. Here are the general specs for this model:
