Emulex is now offering its Lightpulse 16 Gb fibre channel (16GFC) host bus adapter for Dell servers, storage devices and switches. According to the manufacturer, the single-channel LPe16000 and the dual-channel LPe16002 16 Gb adapters are first to become available for PowerEdge servers and PowerVault MD3620f and MD3600f storage arrays, as well as the PowerConnect and Force10 switches. Emulex said that the 16GFC adapters deliver more than a million I/O operations per second (IOPS) on a single port and reduce the response time by 75 percent over its 8GFC predecessor. Both the LPe16000 as well as LPe16002 support up to 255 virtual functions, 1024 message signal interrupts extended (MSI-X) and 8192 concurrent logins and open exchanges. The new 16GFC devices are backwards compatible with Emulex' to 4GFC and 8GFC adapters. VIDEO: Build a Secure Future in Information SecurityLooking for long-term job security?
