Engenius Technologies is debuting the EWS660AP Dual-Band Wireless 11ac 3x3:3 Managed Outdoor Access Point, the latest addition to the Engenius Neutron Series of wireless networking products. The Engenius EWS660AP can function as a stand-alone access point connected to a third-party switch, but offers more control and versatility when deployed within an Engenius Neutron Series wireless network. The new AP is designed to bring wireless connectivity to large outdoor venues such as schools, sports stadiums, corporate campuses, and hotels.

The EW660AP includes the free firmware update available for the Neutron series, which brings several new features, including automatic discovery, configuration, monitoring and management from a compatible Neutron Series PoE+ Switch. Up to 50 of these APs can be managed from a Neutron Series switch using a single browser-based management console. Clients can be identified, tracked and blacklisted, while bulk firmware upgrades, clustering, traffic monitoring, and bandwitdth steering can be performed using this interface.

The EWS660AP delivers speeds of up to 1300 Mbps on the 5GHz band and up to 450 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band with a Gigabit port for connecting 802.3at-capable PoE switches. As far as security, the access point supports WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK Mixed, WPA Enterprise, WPA2 Enterprise, and WPA2 Mixed Enterprise encryption to protect sensitive data during wireless transmission. Real-time roaming with 802.11r provides continuous connectivity for mobile devices as they move through a venue.

Engenius' EWS660AP is housed in an IP65-rated enclosure, offering protection from dust and water, and is built to withstand extreme environmental conditions, such as prolonged exposure to sunlight and extreme cold. The AP's housing is also built to repel Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun.

The Engenius Neutron Series networking products are available in North America via authorized retailers, distributors and value-added resellers. They are covered by a one-year limited warranty.
