Facebook Challenges LinkedIn With Jobs Page

By - Source: Toms IT Pro

Facebook wants to help you find a new job, just like LinkedIn and other social job sites. The social network revealed its to Jobs page that allows businesses to list work they have available. Job seekers can also apply for a job and contact recruiters from that page.

Some 40 percent of small business reportedly find it difficult to find good help. But with the 1 billion people on Facebook, that could get easier. Page administrators for a company can create a job post, track applications and communicate with applicants through Facebook Messenger, on mobile or desktop. And just like admins can boost regular posts (for a fee) you can also boost a job post's reach.

For job seekers, posts may appear in their news feed, in the bookmark for jobs or on a company's page. There is an Apply Now button that opens a form that's pre-populated with information from their profile (NOTE: time to update your profile to be accurate). Of course, you can review and edit that information before submitting it.

Facebook says it started testing this feature some months ago, so hopefully they've worked out any bugs already. The jobs currently available will only be in the U.S. and Canada. Facebook did not say if a global rollout was expected.
