Gmail, Apps Gain Biz Credibility as Google Transitions Postini By Wolfgang Gruener August 22, 2012 2:47 PM Tags : Hardware & Software Cloud Computing Messaging Gmail Security Management Encryption Apps Google Products Basic Policy Google Apps Email Google is transitioning more Postini features to Google Apps in an effort to meet the security standards of its business customers. Most recently, the company added email routing and basic filtering features on to Gmail and other Google Apps. According to the company, users can now use general email addresses such as sales@xyz.com or info@xyz.com and use Google Apps to define the necessary routing rules. The company said that it is preparing a transition of Postini features overall into its Google-branded services and plans to provide information as well as transition resources to customers within a few months. Since the acquisition of Postini, Google has already added user policy management, email content filters as well as the Apps vault to its products. Google Apps users are advised to prepare for that transition as Google says that it will be starting the move in 2013. The benefit, according to Google, will be that user will be able to "receive similar email security, protection, and archiving, but through the more robust Google Apps service." The current Google Message Security will transition to Google Apps for Business; Message Discovery will merge into Apps for Business and Google Apps Vault; Message Encryption will turn into a new product and Message Filtering, as well as Postini Small Business Edition, will be phased out later this year.
