HP Helps Organizations Build Data Security Into Mobile
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has introduced a new security solution that protects mobile devices with end-to-end data encryption. HPE SecureData Mobile is the latest in the expanding HPE SecureData product line, adding additional security measures to data on mobile devices, whether that data is in use, in motion or at rest.
It’s no surprise how much of our Internet usage, from booking airline flights to ordering takeout, is done through our mobile devices. The always-on Internet with the charged applications provide the world at your fingers, and you don’t have to be home, or even near a phone (unless you count that your mobile phone can actually be used as a phone.)
But there is an unintentional consequence to how rapidly the mobile market has taken over the role as the primary Internet communication device. Security on mobile has not yet gotten to the maturity level of full blown PCs running advanced anti-malware as a built-in function of the operating system and a whole host of well known, great options for anti-virus software that's easy to run, understand and afford.
Many that use their mobile devices have a false sense of security. These false assumptions range from the belief that an app has to be perfectly secure to make it into the app store, to believing outright bad information, such as that mobile phones (or at least “their” mobile phone) can’t catch malware.
With as much as 40 percent of global ecommerce transactions taking place directly from mobile devices, and an increased reliance on our mobile devices to hold both Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Personal Health Information (PHI), the time that you can dismiss the risks as negligible has long since passed.
HP SecureData is a suite of products designed to help organizations secure their applications. With products that cover the entire software stack, from databases to the websites and the data that flows through them, organizations can more easily become compliant with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards.
HPE SecureData Mobile works whether users are internal, such as employees where you have control over the mobile device, or external, where there is no control over the devices. And even though you can’t protect all of the data on those users’ phones, you can take a proactive approach to protecting the data that flows into and out of your application. By protecting your entire mobile app, and encrypting all of the data whether it’s in use or at rest, your user’s personal information is secure, even when their phone isn’t.
HPE SecureData Mobile is available now.
