IndependenceIT Announces vCloud Air/Director Integration For Cloud Workspace Suite

By - Source: IndependenceIT

IndependenceIT was among an army of vendors out in force at VMworld, and it announced enhanced support for vCloud Air and vCloud Director for its Cloud Workspace Suite cloud infrastructure management software.

IndependenceIT's Cloud Workspace Suite is designed to manage applications, user access and resource allocation across multiple cloud or local environments, providing IT administrators and service providers a unified management engine to deliver workspaces, applications and desktops as a service (DaaS) using the vCloud Air API.

Support for vCloud Air allows for the management of IT as a service (ITaaS) in any cloud computing environment and allows users to migrate workloads, applications and data from private deployment to the vCloud public cloud -- supposedly without any compromises in security or performance.

Integration with vCloud Director and a wider range of support for the vCloud Air hypervisor enables users to create and manage multi-tenant, session-based workspaces in a variety of cloud environments across multiple virtual infrastructures, simplifying user, policy and workflow management. Leveraging these APIs, IndependenceIT claimed to be breaking down the inherent walls associated with large-scale virtual cloud deployments with its new software.

"Cloud Workspace Suite removes the barriers that limit what is possible with cloud infrastructure, providing the ability to define how and where mission critical applications and data are deployed," said Seth Bostock, CEO of IndependenceIT, in a press release. "Support for vCloud Air furthers our cloud agnostic strategy and gives partners even greater flexibility in how they deploy cloud desktops and applications."

Additional features include real-time monitoring and reporting, unified management of any Cloud Workspace vDC (on site or within any vCloud Air region), and automatic optimization, which auto-resizes RAM and vCPU usages based on the user workload profile. Updates and installations can also be performed directly from the program's native web application, or using the API itself.

Cloud Workspace Suite with support for vCloud Air and vCloud Director is available now and is priced starting at $7.50 per user per month and scales based on volume.
