5. Citrix Certified Instructor (CCI) - IT Training Credentials

Citrix certification has also been around since the late 1990s, and Citrix has included instructor certification in its cert portfolio since the program kicked off in 1997 or thereabouts.

Today, CCIs teach Citrix courseware at Citrix Authorized Learning Centers (CACLs) which include in-house training operations at Citrix itself, as well as authorized learning partner training sites of all kinds (major training companies, training boutiques, community college programs, and so forth). In that sense, the CCI is much like the Cisco CCSI because it requires creating and maintaining a good working relationship with a Citrix training partner to earn and keep up with the CCI credential.

From a technical perspective, Citrix distinguishes between virtualization (which includes XenApp, XenDesktop and XenServer) and networking (NetScaler) platforms.

In addition to the requirements described in Table 4, CCIs must ensure that a minimum of 10 student evaluations for Metrics That Matter (a third party psychometrics and training evaluation company whose software Citrix uses for course evaluations) are filed for courses they teach each quarter. Citrix used to require its CCIs to teach at least 20 days in the classroom (or equivalent) each year, but has since decided that formal metrics from student evaluations are even more valuable. It works out much the same, however, since many Citrix classes run 5 days in the classroom. CCIs also obtain many benefits for their status, including access to products (both beta and production level), training materials, instructor-only forums, and more.
