Similarly, Four-Phase Systems designed an 8-bit chip in 1969 called the AL1 that was used (in triplicate) as part of a 9-chip 24-bit CPU. The AL1 was not called a microprocessor in 1969, but it was later called one in a courtroom demonstration in the 1990s when TI was trying to assert its patents.
