Microsoft Now Offers Learning Paths and Badges Through the MVA

By - Source: Toms IT Pro

Microsoft is now offering new ways to get badges, outside of the traditional credentialing such as MCP, MCSA, MCSE or MCSD.

On March 10, Matthew Calder at the Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA) posted a fascinating story to Born to Learn, the Microsoft Learning blog entitled "New on MVA: Learning paths and badges!" It lays out a new set of learning paths for recommended courses there. Complete any such path, and you get the badge that goes along with it. It's a new way to pick up Microsoft credentialing for topics that may not merit a certification like MCP, MCSA, MCSE or MCSD by themselves, but that still have value to demonstrate one's interests and abilities.

And there are multiple Learning Paths from which one can choose, some aimed at developers and others at IT Pros. There's a total of 11 at the moment on the Learning Paths page, of which 4 aim at developers, and 7 at IT professionals:

These learning paths are intended to lay out and deliver the content necessary to address the topics they cover, to help interested IT pros learn more about them, and do more with them. This is just the beginning of what promises to be an interested new wrinkle in learning about Microsoft tools, platforms and technologies, and showing proof of accomplishment through badging. As more learning paths show up, I'll follow up with further coverage.
