Microsoft Releases 52 Patches

Microsoft's latest Patch, released Tuesday, covers 12 security bulletins, with two critical ones for Exchange.

The bulletins include a total of 52 patches for Windows XP - 8, Windows Server 2003 - 2012, Windows RT, Internet Explorer 6 - 10, Exchange Server 2007 and 2010, as well as FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint Service Pack 1.

In addition to the patches, Microsoft said it will also release a new version of its Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. The software will be published on Microsoft Security Web site.

Microsoft has released details about the patches and the company revealed that two of the bulletins rated as critical affect Windows XP SP3 as well as Windows Vista. There are also two separate security updates for critical vulnerabilities for IE6 - IE 10.

It is noteworthy that Microsoft is still supporting IE6, a browser that was released more than 11 years ago, but is still popular in China, but has become almost irrelevant elsewhere. More than 20 percent of Internet users in China are using IE6.
