Microsoft is running a short, but intense discount on all books and ebooks right now. Through Nov. 12 all items are available at 40 percent below their usual prices.

This includes the company's current top sellers, as well as its countless certification titles and how-to guides.

Right now, the terrific troubleshooting guide based on Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell's wonderful Sysinternals Suite is just out in a second edition, along with new titles on MS cert exams (70-345, 70-346 and 70-697 most notably). Books on Azure security, PowerShell, and C# coding round out the top spots in the lineup. But that's not all.

Literally every book in the MS Press catalog gets the same treatment. Ed Bott's latest (2nd) Edition of Windows 10 Inside Out is included, as are a raft of additional cert prep books, including 70-698 (another Windows 10 title) and 70-339 (SharePoint Server 2016). MOS 2016 titles are starting to appear, with Word and Excel currently available, and more on the way. To take advantage of this proverbial limited-time discount offer, simply provide the discount code Ignite during the checkout/payment process at the Microsoft Press Store online.

Looking beyond the discount period, I'm pleased to see titles for many of the new slate of Microsoft exams (especially those for Windows Server 2016, including 70-741 Networking with Windows Server 2016, 70-743 Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA: Windows Server 2016, and 70-744 Securing Windows Server 2016) are scheduled for release in late December (right after Christmas, in fact).

It's great to see Microsoft delivering on its promises to provide training and support for the new slate of MCSE exams before the end of the year. Given the large number of new exams unleashed this summer and fall, there should be a continuing spate of certification titles showing up on the "Coming Soon" pages at MS Press. This is an excellent way to stay tuned on how things are progressing, and to use as a goad to start planning your future Microsoft certification activities and adventures.
