Tyan Releases New Server Hardware

Tyan announces four new products at the annual CeBIT trade show in Hannover, Germany, including a dual-socket motherboard and three server barebones systems designed with power efficiency in mind.

The Taiwanese server manufacturer, Tyan, which specializes in developing high-end servers and server backbones systems, announced several new products earlier this week during CeBIT. The latest products, built on Intel’s Xeon processors, include:

  • S7042
  • GT20A-B7040
  • GT62A-B5512
  • TA77-B7061

Tyan S7042 motherboard comes in two models and is designed for workstation and small business environments. The S7042 supports dual Intel Xeon E5-2400 processors and features DDR3 DIMM slots, two GbE ports as well as  PCI-E Gen3 x8 and x16 slots. The main difference between the two available S7042 models lies in storage; WAGM2NR model has eight SAS ports and six SATA ports while AGM2NR utilizes ten SATA ports.

 S7042 motherboard S7042 motherboardTyan GT20A-B7040 server barebone is a 1U rackmount that utilizes Tyan’s S7040 motherboard and Intel Xeon E5-2400 processor. Built for power efficient applications, it utilizes DDR3 DIMM slots, two GbE ports, PCI-E Gen3 x8 slots, along with four hot-swap SAS/SATA external drive bays. Tyan GT62A-B5512 server barebone system is also a 1U rackmount, supporting the Intel Xeon E3-1200 processor, DDR3 DIMM, GbE ports, PCI-E Gen3 x8 slots and hot-swap SAS/SATA hard drives. According to Tyan’s press release, the GT62A-B5512 system is specifically designed for “CDN (Content Delivery Network) and HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) with enhanced storage and server management capability.”

Tyan TA77B7061 server barebone is a 2U rackmount capable of supporting up to four GPUs. Featuring the Intel Xeon E5-2600 processor, DDR3 DIMM slots, two GbE ports, and PCI-E Gen3 x8 and x16 slots, the server platform offers some flexibility and customization. Tyan suggests utilizing Intel’s Xeon Phi, NVIDIA’s Tesla K20 and ATI FirePro GPUs to achieve even higher performance and efficiency.

Tyan’s new motherboard and server backbones systems are available now and will be featured at the upcoming Intel Solution Summit in Dublin (ISS EMEA) April 10th through 12th, 2013.
