MuleSoft's Anypoint Platform Creates Application Networks On-Prem And In The Cloud

By - Source: Toms IT Pro

MuleSoft announced an update to its Anypoint Platform. Anypoint is an application network built using APIs to connect applications, as well as data and devices into a single, seamless network application, whether in the cloud, or on-premises.

The suite of tools includes Mule runtime, Design Center, Management Center, Anypoint Connectors, Anypoint Studio and the Anypoint Exchange.

"Leading companies are building application networks of apps, data and devices to fundamentally change the pace of innovation. With every new service and API, they add more value to their application network," said Mark Dao, chief product officer for MuleSoft. "This major new release of Anypoint Platform allows customers to change the clock speed at which they can deliver on business outcomes through API-led connectivity."

The new release creates a totally re-architected API development lifecycle. A new API designer is built into Anypoint Studio, which allows teams to build, design, and manage APIs on their own workspaces, eliminating the need to switch between environments, even when working with diverse team technologies.

New features include support for RAML 1.0. RAML offers developers the ability to create libraries across network components using annotations and YAML-based examples to improve readability, collaboration and future maintenance. In addition to RAML support, SOAP APIs are now supported in APIkit, which allows developers to generate Mule flows with just a few clicks.

In addition, an expanded connector portfolio now includes Box, Kafka, Redis and Zuora. Existing connectors for SAP, Salesforce and Workday have been improved and updated.

Beyond the new development features, there are improvements to user management and monitoring as well. With the new release, comes support for Business Groups, which allows assets to be assigned to individual teams in order to ensure granular control only to authorized users. In addition, Global policies now offer the ability to deliver self-service assets, which still maintain control.

On the monitoring front, the Anypoint Platform now supports alerts for proactive monitoring, as well as additional audit logging to ensure all changes are known and understood.
