Nutanix' Xpress Hyperconverged Platform Targets SMBs

By - Source: Nutanix

Nutanix has announced a hyperconverged offering aimed at small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) that packs the power of modern infrastructure into a solution that is simple enough to be completely installed and managed by a single IT professional. Nutanix Xpress is an all-in-one solution that includes all of the infrastructure required to power as much as 500 virtual machines; the hardware and software is installed and licensed to enable the virtual infrastructure and backup of data to public clouds.

The ability to quickly set up a virtual infrastructure is something that is difficult even for enterprise-level organizations. Infrastructure installation and software licensing and installation often requires in-house knowledge and staff that are comfortable with the environment. Once the setup is complete, making changes to the infrastructure and adapting to new technologies like cloud backups takes effort and specific skills, with enterprises being much better at being able to respond and take advantage of new technologies.

With Nutanix Xpress, SMBs get a viable solution to take on these challenges. Since the hardware and software comes preloaded there is no specific expertise required on the part of the IT generalist performing the setup. Thus, setup is simple, typically taking less than one hour.

The licensing is made simple, too. The Nutanix Acropolis hypervisor (AHV) is included so there is no requirement for VMware or Hyper-V. Nutanix' Xpress comes with the hypervisor license and three years of support.

"Xpress is the next step in the company's long-term strategy to bring the benefits of hyperconvergence to businesses of all sizes," said Raja Mukhopadhyay, VP of product management at Nutanix. "Xpress is a new Nutanix product line with a dedicated technology roadmap. In support of this new initiative, Nutanix is building new channel go-to-market strategies, developing additional training and augmenting its world-class support organization."

Nutanix Xpress will be available in July through Nutanix OEM partners and Nutanix authorized resellers and distributors. The starting price for a three-node system is $25,000.
