Dell Begins Reselling Microsoft Office 365 to SMBs

By Douglas Perry July 31, 2012 12:02 PM

Microsoft has found in Dell a partner distributor that could help lift the success of Office 365. Dell agreed to offer the hosted Office package to its SMBs alongside its PCs, as well as an add-on after a hardware purchase.

There is no difference in Dell's offering to the Office 365from Microsoft's Web site. However, those who want Dell to provide 24x7 customer service and not Microsoft, and those who prefer a hardware and software package including services, can now go through Dell without having to make a separate purchase on microsoft.com.

Pricing is the same and starts a $9 per user per month for a basic package that includes messaging, email as well as web-based Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote editing. Email only is $8 per month while the all-you-can-eat package is $25 per month, and offers a local version of Office 2010 Pro Plus, voice services, Sharepoint, and Active Directory Synchronization. Companies interested in Office 365 should take a close look at the service packages as package upgrades not always result in feature upgrades.

For example, the $11 E1 Plus plan, and upgrade from the $9 P1 Plus plan downgrades Words/Excel/Powerpoint and OneNote support from viewing and editing to viewing only.

There are six packages in total supporting groups up to 500 users. Find out more here.
