Last week SAP AG said that is has updated its BusinessObjects Mobile app for Apple devices to v5.0.5. This new version now includes access to multiple sources of analytic content, social integration, a new home screen and toolbar, improved navigation and more. The company also released a new developer kit, which is included with SAP BusinessObjects Mobile, for customizing their mobile analytic applications. SAP BusinessObjects Mobile can be downloaded from iTunes here.
"The mobile app brings together multiple business intelligence (BI) and analytic applications from SAP into a single app, offering customers the flexibility and freedom to do business better on-the-go," SAP said. "The new 5.0 release puts the power of mobile analytics from SAP in one place, enabling users to easily interact with reports and dashboards and enjoy self-service discovery and exploration."
According to the company, the updated app now provides access to SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence software, SAP BusinessObjects Explorer software, SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio, SAP Crystal Reports software, SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards software, the SAP EPM Unwired mobile app and the SAP Lumira Cloud platform. SAP Jam has also become the platform's default collaboration tool, the company said.
SAP said last week that the new app also now provides support for the SAP StreamWork application, the ability to do voice commands for annotation and native functionality, and the ability to integrate with third-party security and the SAP Mobile Platform. To use this app, downloaders must be users of the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform, with mobile services enabled by the IT department.
SAP's mobile iOS solution leverages SAP in-memory data sources for instant access to "big data", allowing users to analyze key metrics and discover data trends with "stunning" business intelligence content. It connects to data via SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand, and provides access to dynamic exploration views based on any information source. Users can even work seamlessly both online and offline, and share and collaborate instantly with others.
"With the latest release of SAP BusinessObjects Mobile, SAP has brought several content types into one mobile client and enhanced the overall user experience," said Cindi Howson, founder, BI Scorecard. "This consolidation of multiple applications and the improvements in navigation make SAP a leader in mobile BI among the BI platform vendors."
The new release of SAP BusinessObjects Mobile is built on the SAP Mobile Platform. For more information about the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform itself, head here.
