By - Source: Toms IT Pro

On Monday, Toshiba announced a new entry into the enterprise solid state drive (eSSD) market with its model PX02SS which has been optimized for online transaction processing and write intensive workloads.

This 2.5" SAS enterprise series is available in 100, 200, 400, and 800 GB capacities.  The units have a 5 year limited warranty and are listed as being capable of handling 30 full capacity drive writes and re-writes each day for five years. The standard disclaimer that this could vary based on usage and system configuration applies here.  For additional reliability all models use Toshiba's Quadruple Swing by Code, a layered error correction (ECC) approach.

The PX02SS is listed as having a 12 Gb/second SAS interface and according to Toshiba, "select models offer industry standard self-encrypting technology."

Other listed features include 24nm eMLC NAND process, and power loss prevention.

The PX02SS high endurance eSSDs are currently available.  Additional specifications are available on Toshiba's website.
