TRENDNet Brings New PoE Dual Band Access Point To Wireless Lineup

By - Source: Toms IT Pro

Today marked the release of the TEW-821DAP, TRENDnet's latest AC1200 dual band Power over Ethernet (PoE) access point. The sleekly designed access point comes with its own controller software and is geared for small to medium environments that need wireless coverage and simplified Wi-Fi management.

The TRENDnet TEW-821DAP offers speeds of up to 867 Mbps for the 5 GHz band and 400 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz band. One of its main selling points is Gigabit PoE, which routes power alongside the data sent over Ethernet connections. Additionally, the TEW-821DAP contains band steering technology, which redirects connections on 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz when the former is heavily impacted. The TEW-821DAP has access point, client, WDS AP, WDS Bridge, WDS Station and repeater modes, allowing users to tailor the TEW-821DAP to their needs.

The low profile TEW-821DAP's front profile contains four LED indicators for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, LAN and Power.

On the back is the aforementioned Gigabit PoE port, a regular power input for those who don't need Power over Ethernet, and finally a reset switch. TRENDnet also included a mounting plate for easy installation.

The new access point also comes with a Windows-based software controller that allows administrators to manage security and wireless settings over multiple TEW-821DAP units, thus centralizing and reducing administrative control of deployed access points.

Other TEW-821DAP features include:

Up to 16 SSIDs (8 per band)

IPv6 support

Command line interface

Up to WPA2 wireless encryption

Wi-Fi traffic shaping per VLAN

12V/1 A power consumption (9.6 Watts maximum)

Multi-language support

The TRENDnet TEW-821DAP is available now at an MSRP of $134.99 USD through major retailers and authorized TRENDnet partners.
