HP reveals new integrative solutions: the Mellanox SX1018HP Ethernet Switch, the ProLiant WS460c Gen 8 blade, the HP BladeSystem c7000 Platinum Enclosure, along with two new HP StoreVirtual storage systems.

Earlier this week at HP’s annual Global Partner Conference, the company announced a suite of new products aimed at lowering IT costs and unifying the datacenter.

The new HP ProLiant WS460c Gen 8 workstation blade supports high density 3D graphics, features up to 8 GPUs per blade and supports both NVIDIA’s Quadro 5000/6000 and HP’s Multi-GPU Carrier with Quadro 1000/3000M graphics. The ProLiant WS460c focuses on providing high performance virtualized workstations which lower the seat cost while maintaining performance.

The ProLiant blade fits perfectly into the HP BladeSystem c7000 Platinum Enclosure capable of holding up to 8 full-height and 16 half-height C-class blades, while supporting a mixed configuration. Featuring 8 interconnect bays with Ethernet, Fibre channel and InfiniBand switched fabric interconnects, which significantly increase bandwidth. The c7000 chassis is perfect for mid-sized to larger data centers.

Housed within the c7000 Platinum, the SX1018HP Ethernet blade switch built with Mellonox’s SwitchX ASIC Ethernet fabric technology capable of 40Gb/sec speeds, is ideal for high performance computing. The combined design of the HP enclosure and the Mellanox switch offers enhanced CPU utilization, low latency and high density while supporting RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet).

Along the lines of storage, HP introduced two new HP StoreVirtual systems, the StoreVirtual 4530 and 4730. Deployed on HP’s ProLiant Gen8 technology, the storage solutions focus on “improving both productivity and efficiency for businesses deploying virtualization."

HP’s focus on cloud computing and virtualization align with the converged infrastructure shift that the company has been making in response to the growing challenges facing large scale IT departments.
