HP Thin Clients Get Windows 7 Multi-Touch Support

HP now offering multi-touch designed thin clients for kiosk applications. HP said it is now offering its thin client computers with the Windows Embedded Standard 7 WS7P SKU that allows customers to enable multi-touch designed for kiosk applications.

The software is pre-installed across the t610 series line of HP thin clients, which sell with AMD's T56N dual-core APU between $399 and $599.

“HP thin clients with Windows Embedded Standard 7 WS7P SKU are ideal for businesses who want to easily add multitouch capabilities to thin clients powering retail or hospitality kiosks, or who want to customize and control user access policies more effectively,” said HP's Jeff Groudan, marketing director in the company's Thin Client group. “The increased versatility of the Windows Embedded Standard platform will provide HP thin client customers with new options to drive their cloud business strategies.”

HP multi-touch thin client target digital signage applications and kiosks for banking and retail self-service scenarios. The company said the computers come with an enhanced security lockdown feature, more multimedia capabilities and more efficient network management. Additional features included in the Windows Embedded Standard 7 WS7P SKU computers are Microsoft DirectAccess, Windows Server BranchCache as well as multilingual capabilities, including out-of-box language support for the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific and China.

The updated t610 thin clients are shipping now.
