HP’s new line of MicroServers is designed with small to medium businesses in mind, by offering a low priced solution that is easy to deploy, manage and maintain.

It’s predecessor, the ultra-compact MicroServer was first introduced in 2010.  This week, HP announced it’s successor, the HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen 8 which is now available worldwide.  The base price starts at $449.

The MicroServer Gen8 utilizes the trademark ProLiant HP ProActive Insight architecture which includes:

  • HP Intelligent Provisioning and HP iLO Management Engine (iLO4) for simplified provisioning/installation;
  • HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Essentials for remote management;
  • HP Active Health for monitoring and HP Smart Update

Also available is an add-on option, HP’s stackable PS18180-8G managed switch, which can monitor both devices to ensure optimization of connectivity and performance.

In addition, two new low cost additions have been added to the ProLiant product line: the HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 and the HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2, with a starting price of $869 and $899, respectively.  The ML310e v2 is single-processor tower server and the DL320e Gen8 v2 is a compact, single processor rack optimized server.
